Elmar Kutsch

Elmar Kutsch completed his BSc at Aachen University of Applied Science (Germany) in 1997 followed by a MBA in 1998. Elmar has held a variety of commercial and senior management positions within the IT industry, working initially for M+S Elektronik AG (Germany) in 1998 where he was responsible for the successful delivery of a number of large IT services projects including major roll out and outsourcing projects.

In 2001, Elmar won a Doctoral Studentship from the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) to complete his PhD in Project Risk Management at the University of Bath. You can read a summary of Elmar's thesis (if you are a PMRI member).

He served as a Lecturer in Operations Management at the University of Surrey and has been at Cranfield University since 2007 running a variety of courses on project and programme management at Master’s and Executive level. His teaching is underpinned by providing consultancy services to organisation in the defence and IT industry.

Elmar is currently engaged in research and consultancy on Risk Management and in particular is interested in applying Normal Accident and High Reliability Theory in project organisations.
